Bruno Vaes

Bruno Vaes, principal of COGNEGY, has a 30-year track record as an international business development consultant and executive.

Having lived in Brazil, Belgium and the United States, and also worked for extended periods in France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Romania, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Argentina and India, Bruno has taken the full measure of very diverse business practices and cultures.

As a consultant and interim manager, Bruno intervened for two decades in a dozen medium-sized and large companies. Acting in turn as a crisis manager, marketing & sales director or project leader in environments as diverse as automotive assembly lines, steel mills, food processors, petrochemical plants, engineering firms and wineries, Bruno acquired the ability to quickly visualize critical issues and to find solutions using out-of-the box thinking. Bruno has repeatedly unlocked a company's potential by redesigning a service or product, finding the right takeover target or commercial partner, or setting up a joint venture to open a foreign market.

While working for a Belgian maintenance services company, Bruno managed to sharply increase their presence in the European automotive assembly industry signing contracts with DAF Trucks in the Netherlands and Belgium, Jaguar in the U.K., Ford Motors in Turkey and Volvo in Belgium.

Prior to this period, as a member of the Board of Directors of Belgium's second largest security firm, Bruno focused on innovative sales and marketing management tools to drive its 90 million euro turnover towards a recurrent 10% annual growth rate, double the previous level.

Bruno holds a Master of Science Degree in Business Engineering from the University of Louvain, Belgium and a post-graduate degree in Marketing of Services. He is fluent in English, French, Dutch and Portuguese.

Bruno and his wife reside close to historic Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, right at the tri-state border of Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia, a short distance from the Washington, DC Metro area.
